Blackwoods Campground is located on the east side of Mount Desert Island off Maine State Route 3 in Acadia National Park. Construction of Blackwoods Campground began in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and came into existence in 1961 and 1962, but has undergone minor changes since then. The campground has 306 individual campsites, several group campsites, and offers only limited amenities, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. If you want to stay here, you will have to book in advance. All Blackwoods campsites are reservable up to two months in advance. There are no first-come, first-serve sites. All campsites are by reservation only.
